Last time, Kumatamo enjoyed tea time in the tea room attached to the MOA Museum of Art. From here, I will tell you about the walk in the garden.

前回MＯA美術館併設の茶室で、お茶の時間を楽しんだクマタモ。ここからは庭園散策の様子をお伝えします。

Just when I was hungry, a soba restaurant appeared!

お腹が空いたところに蕎麦屋が現れました！

This is the menu outside. The price was more reasonable than I expected at a tourist spot, so I decided to have lunch here.

外にあるお品書きです。観光地価格予想より良心的な値段でしたのでこちらでお昼ごはんを食べることにしました。

I’m seated. I’m tired of walking 👣The seats on the other side are tatami mats. This is where you take off your shoes and sit down.

着席です～。歩き疲れたー👣向こう側の席は畳ですね。靴を脱いで座るところです。

It’s already hot and I can’t help it, so I eat cold soba noodles.

もう暑くてしょうがないので冷たいお蕎麦を食べます。

Zaru soba, soba soup, green onion, wasabi, barley tea, soba soup

ざるそば、そばつゆ、ネギ、わさび、麦茶、そば湯

Add green onions and wasabi to the soba soup, dip the soba noodles in the soup, and slurp as you eat. When you finish eating your soba, you will be brought some sobayu (the water from boiling the soba).

そばつゆにネギとわさびを入れ、そばをそのつゆに浸し、すすりながら食べます。そばを食べ終わる頃に、そば湯(そばを茹でた時のゆで汁)を持ってきてもらえます。

As shown in the photo above, pour the desired amount of soba water into the soba soup and drink it as is. Soba hot water is rich in nutrients such as protein and polyphenols, and warms your body.

上の写真のようにそばつゆにそば湯をお好みの量注ぎ、そのまま飲みます。そば湯にはたんぱく質やポリフェノールなどの栄養が豊富で、身体が温まります。

A little explanation of what’s on the table. In the container above, the left one is shichimi and the right one is a toothpick.

テーブルに設置してある物の説明を少し。上の入れ物は、左が七味で、右が楊枝です。

Let’s take the lid off. Add the shichimi to your soba soup to adjust the flavor. Toothpicks are used after meals to remove food stuck between teeth. It is good manners to cover it with your hands.

蓋を取ってみましょう。七味はお好みでそばつゆに入れて味を調整します。楊枝は食後に、歯に挟まってしまった食材を取り除くのに使います。手で隠しながら行うのがマナーです。

There’s still a cafe I want to go to, so I head back inside the museum.

入りたいカフェがまだあるので、美術館館内に戻ります。

階段横にさりげないごみ箱です。

I came to Toshiyorozuka’s cafe. I asked for a seat on the terrace. I was told that the floor was on a slope and that even if I changed the angle of the chair, it would wobble 💦

トシヨロイヅカさんのカフェに来ました。テラス席をお願いしてみました。床が斜面になっており、椅子の角度を変えてもガタつきますよと言われました💦

また、近未来感のある長ーいエスカレーターで出入口に向かいます。

The down escalator is too long and scary. It is as long as the underground escalator of the NERV organization that appears in the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. Kumatomo imagines that if he falls down this escalator, he will continue to fall forever.

下りのエスカレーターが長すぎて怖いです。新世紀エヴァンゲリオンというアニメ作品に出てくるネルフという組織の地下エスカレーターと同じ位長いです。クマタモはこの下りエスカレーターでもし転んだら、永遠に転げ続けるんだろうなーと妄想してしまいます。

熱海駅に戻ってきました。東海バスさんお世話になりました～。

I don’t want to leave anything behind, so I end my trip by soaking in the footbath “Ieyasu no Yu” in front of the station. It will soothe your tired feet from walking.

名残惜しいので駅前の足湯”家康の湯”で旅の終わりに浸ります。歩き疲れた足の疲れが癒されますね。
